The Oak Ridge Police Department Chaplains is served by five volunteer on-call chaplains. Their mission is to serve the spiritual needs of the Police Department members. The chaplains are also called upon to help all citizens in times of need or distress.

 

The ORPD Chaplains are required to certified by the International Conference of Police Chaplains (ICPC)Certification includes special training on such issues as stress management, death notifications, legal liability, crisis response, substance abuse and suicide.

 

ORPD Chaplains are: Harold Scott of New York Avenue Church of ChristRay Smith of Highland View Church of ChristRoger Hayley of First Free Will Baptist Church, Robert May of Oak Ridge Family Bible Church, and Myra Mansfield of Choices Resource Center.

 

Each of the seven chaplains is on call for 24 hours on their given day of the week.

 

Police Lt. Don Johnson is the department coordinator for the chaplain. Lt. Johnson is also a certified police chaplain.
